We're all just too pretty for Free Software
GNOME JournalThe new GNOME Journal is out, go read it!
With articles on GNOME 2.10, the new art.gnome.org, Evolution, and a heap more; I can happily give it the Davyd Madeley Seal of Approval.
LugRadio
Listened to LugRadio 2x11 yesterday. It was pretty good, except the part where some chump from Perth made an idiot of himself on their voicemail. They also have a new look website, that looks rather similar to the website of one of the presenters ;)
newwordinventology
In christening the brand new science of newwordinventology, I would like to demonstrate the first word to come out of this marvellous field, netcut. It's like a powercut, but for the internet. Here is a the founding conversation for the word netcut:

Just as soon as we get one, Aaron Alderman will be winning the Nobel Prize for Newwordinventology.
Free Software hacker? or winner of the Eurovision Song Contest?
So the list of speakers for GUADEC has been released. This list includes photos of most of the speakers who will be presenting, and it's official: Danilo Segan is too pretty for GNOME!I'm not trying to embarrass him, but seriously, had someone shown me this photo and told me he was a pop star, and this was a shot from his latest video clip, I would have believed it. Why aren't there enough ladies in GNOME? I don't know, but perhaps with more Serbian heartthrobs around, it won't be long now.
Next week, RateMyFLOSSHacker.com!
UCC Fresher's Welcome
The UCC Fresher's Welcome on Friday night wasn't too bad, if you ignore the impressive lack of freshers. That's not entirely true, some freshers turned up at some point. Pizza took too long to arrive (we ordered 14 of them) and in that time enough people turned up to completely throw out the pizza calculations, meaning some people didn't get enough pizza (sorry). This leads me to a new thought, there are no women in IT because they die of starvation on pizza nights, they just don't eat as fast as the men. The freshers mostly vanished at some point, and I ended up on the phone to Mr Waugh, discussing screensavers. I'm going to have to spend some quality time at linux.conf.au with my X-hacker-buddies.
